Finally, I’ve managed to find the time and inclination to move over to Linux with the help of Lorentz, the Linux Zealot
. He gave me a one day crash course on how to use linux what the directories are all about and common tools and ways of installing and uninstalling applications from repositories. (more on this later).
So now I’m all penguined up!!! I do all my application design on Umbrello, code with Eclipse using PDT, DBEdit, Aptana and Subversive plugins, and to funktify the whole process, I’ve installed beryl with AIGLX. So I’ve got a seemingly “Virtual” development environent.
The hardest part of the whole thing – well for me anyway was getting the display driver to play nice. /etc/X11/xorg.conf is a bitch if you don’t know what you’re doing. » Read more: Linux Finally! I’m all Penguined up!
