Hey guys, it’s been a long, long while since I’ve posted on this blog – I am simply too busy to do anything other than work on/for the business. So while I’ve got a few minutes to myself, I thought I’d do a quick update.
Joomla
As I scroll through my previous posts, I noticed that I’ve actually got a post for J1.5.7 security release. They’re now up to 1.5.9 so if you have not updated your sites, please do so. Check the security release update announcement for more details. I am looking forward to J1.6 – one big feature which would make developers lives easier is the implementation of the long awaited, highly anticipated ACL improvements.
For more information on progression regarding ACL improvments, a quick google search will lead you to numerous sources, so check it out if it “piques” your interest.
Ubuntu
Ubuntu has made some leaps to become “almost” functional out-of-the-box (I say “almost” due to some issues with proprietary drivers or lack of support for certain hardware). I am hardly a Linux hard liner, but I am pleased to see the progress they are making.
User Comments/Feedback on existing posts
Thank you to everyone who have posted comments on existing posts, while some of the information may be outdated, I am glad that some of you found it to be useful. For those who are asking for help, my apologies for not replying to all of your requests, but as I said in my opening statement – I am simply too busy to do anything other than work on/for the business.
To my regular visitors and subscribers, thank you for staying tuned. This blog is poised to deliver payloads of helpful information – I’ve been dying to blog on the vast range of web related topics roaming through my head. I would also love to share my experience and thoughts on working on the Linux Desktop and will be doing so as soon as I get some time.
Staffing Situation, Conclusion
Regarding the search for extra help, we’ve managed to fill the position for an extra developer since my last post in October and we are now marching to the synchronised, yet syncopated beats produced by our keyboads through 2009.
To conclude, I won’t have very much free time for the first half of this year. I can only smile weakly at my calendar now as it’s starting to look like a Mahjongg puzzle. Big plans, lots of work ahead, will resume normal posting in a few months. ![]()
So to all my… *looks at feedburner reader widget* 12 readers, I’ll see you then… (well for those who aren’t bots/indexing services anyway)
