Hi everyone, well if you haven’t noticed by now, I’ve updated a few things on the site – first and foremost the look and feel of the site got a massive overhaul and I’ve added a few extra features to the blog such as:
- Browse by Tags
- Contact Form
- Latest Tweet
- Multi-threaded Comments
Browse by Tags – You can now through my posts using tags I’ve assigned to them. The more used the tag is, the bigger the text is. I’m sure you already know how to us this, so I won’t go any further – I will however need to be more mindful when I’m tagging my posts; I know it’s a bit of a mess – I’ll fix it shortly.
Contact form – believe it or not, I actually like getting emails from people who ask questions and/or propose opportunities. You can do this easily now via the contact form.
Latest Tweet – After a few years of resistance, I’ve caved in and decided to use twitter more and more in my day to day to my surprise, it’s actually somewhat, lived up to the hype in my mindspace – it’s a great tool for keeping in touch with people and staying updated with the latest news about the things you are interested in. The Latest Tweet section located on the top right of the body content displays my latest tweet – even though they’re not always technical, I think it will at least give you an indication as to what I’m currently thinking about or doing; well recently current anyway.
Multi-threaded Comments - It’s now easier to actually hold a conversation with people in my comments! This is a relief because it was getting annoying having to respond by saying @person – [insert your reply to their comment 10 comments up is here] – I’ve always been annoyed by this when I visited other people’s blogs and for those who feel the same, you will no longer need to worry about that in this blog 
Domain Change
I’ve also changed the man domain name for my blog from being blog.rvdavid.net to www.rvdavid.net. Don’t worry, I’ve added the standard rewrite rules so that if you come to blog.rvdavid.net/some-old-post-that-used-to-be-located-on-this-uri, you will be automatically redirected to www.rvdavid.net/some-old-post-that-used-to-be-located-on-this-uri. It’s a quick thing, but the thing is, I keep forgetting how to do it – I’ll do a post on this shortly after I party out in the new year.
To top all that off, I’ve removed the blue from the colour scheme and stuck with green, some black and shades of gray. Well I feel refreshed about the website revamp and glad that I finally found the time to do it.
Now all I need to do is post about relevant topics! More web development and Ubuntu Desktop posts coming up soon.
